Strategy for Increased Video Rankings on YouTube Using These Free Tools
- Use the find top youtube videos for a search term tool to find the top positioned videos currently on YouTube.com for the keyword phrase you are thinking of focusing on for your YouTube video upload.
- Click the button with the text
View the Top YouTube Videos
for each of the results. - Find the one that has the highest number of average daily views.
- Copy that videos tags and use these tags as the tags for your video upload.
- Click the option button to view the videos tags as #hashtags and copy and paste these hashtags into your YouTube video desciption at the very bottom. Make sure the hashtag version of the videos tags are the very last entry in your YouTube video description and make sure these hashtags are on a separate line, all by themselves. Make sure that in the YouTube video upload details section you leave the
Video Location
section to None
. When you publish your video these hashtags will appear directly under your video, hyperlinked as YouTube searches for the content of the hashtag. In other words, a hashtag #youtubeseo
, when clicked by someone, will lead them to a list of YouTube video results that have the same hashtag. This is advantageous for your videos SEO. You may think this is a bad thing to do because you are offering you video viewers options to leave your video and go to another YouTube video but this is far outweighed by the fact that you are clearly clarifying, for YouTube.com, what the appropriate subject matter of your video is.
The Manual Way to Find a Good Keyword Phrase for your YouTube Video
There are two ways you can find valuable tags for YouTube videos, the manual way and the automated way:
- Head over to YouTube.
- In the search box, at the top of any page on YouTube, type in a root keyword phrase/tag related to what your video will be/is about.
- Place the keyboard caret at the beginning of the root keyword phrase/tag and press the
Space
key to add a space at the beginning.
- Put the caret back to the very beginning of the YouTube search box.
- Type each letter of the alphabet, beginning with the letter
A
.
- As you type the letter
A
, a dropdown box will show you other keyword phrases/tags related to your root keyword phrase/tag. This is YouTube's way of letting you know what other people are searching for on YouTube, similar to your root keyword phrase/tag. Take note of the suggested keyword phrases/tags for ideas. Write down the suggested keyword phrases/tags that look good to you.
- Press the
Backspace
key to erase the A
.
- Continue doing the above steps for each letter of the alphabet.
- After you have finished the entire alphabet you can then move the keyboard caret in between each word of your keyword phrase/tag as well as at the end of your keyword phrase/tag and perform the above same steps.
- Depending upon your root keyword phrase/tag, when you are finish you should have seen hundreds, if not thousands of keyword phrases/tags that you could consider for your video.
