Frost occurs on the windows of your home and car windows because the temperature on one side of the glass (the inside) is below freezing while the temperature on the other side of the glass is warmer. If the air on the cold side is cold enough, it causes the temperature of the glass on the warmer side to drop below freezing. As the temperature of the warmer air making contact with the glass drops, it increases the moisture content of the air on the warmer side of the glass which causes the moisture in the air to freeze on the glass on contact.
The trick to prevent frost from occuring or building up on the inside of your homes windows or car windshield is lower the freezing point of the moisture that accumulates on the glass. This can accomplished by applying a thin coating of a clear liquid that has a lower freezing point than water which is 32 degrees.
